It is made out of 90% silver (0.90 fine) and there were only 200,000 of these struck in the year 1931. The front of it has a portrait of Vasco Núñez de Balboa who was an influential Spanish Conquistador and politician in the (early 1500s). He established a settlement which would eventually become known as Panama today . The currency used in Panama is the Balboa and has been since that country was established in 1903 (after splitting from Colombia).
