In this posting we’ll talk about a Royal Bank of Scotland Limited 1 Pound Sterling banknote that is dated 1 May 1981. In 3 corners of the obverse one will notice the denomination of £1. On the left hand side is the watermark which is a picture of Adam Smith who was a Scottish economist from the 1700s that had a profound effect on modern economics. Now to the right side of the front of this note is an RBS symbol which includes a horse as well as deer. In the second picture we see the reverse or back side of the bill which has Edinburgh Castle, a very important historical site located in Scotland.
Our 1981 Royal Bank of Scotland Limited 1 Pound Sterling appears to be in a grade of very fine.
