In this entry we have a 1901 Canada 5 cents sterling silver coin which can be looked at in the photos below. On its front side is an image of Queen Victoria who presided over the British Empire from 1837 until 1901. The reverse side has the year, denomination and a crowned reef. This coin weighs approximately a gram and there were 2 million of them made in 1901 (which was the last year of this design). It is a nice coin for collectors to handle and appears to be in very good grade.

Here we are going to talk about a really nice 1966 Canada silver 1 dollar coin. On its obverse is a design featuring Queen Elizabeth II with royal tiara. The back has a scene of travelers inside of a voyageur canoe with the date below and the denomination below that. This coin is 80% silver and has .6 ounce of the precious metal in it. This was the 2nd to the last year that these were made for circulation.
Take a look at our 1966 Canadian silver dollar in the photos underneath. Its condition is at least almost uncirculated and it still has very nice mint luster.

Canadian coinage has had an interesting history; it had its first official examples made in 1858 and there were 4 denomination. They were a bronze composed 1 cent piece and silver 5, 10 and 20 cents. Prior to that US and British coins were used. The first dollar was initiated in 1935 in the form of the Voyageur.
Below we have photographs of a 1958 Canadian 10 cent coin that we have. It is rather small only weighing in total 2.31 grams. It is 80 percent silver having a total of .0594 ounces or 1.6839 grams of the precious metal. The front was designed by Mary Gllick. On its obverse is Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and head of the Commonwealth. Her reign started in 1952 after King George the VI (her father) passed away.
The reverse side of this Canadian 10 cent silver coin is an image of a sail boat and the denomination. This image was created by Emanuel Hahn. This coin would grade fine and the details are still sharp. Its not perfect as there appears to be a scatch and dirt on the back but nevertheless its a good small form of silver.
The Canadian dime or ten cent coin has been around since the year 1858 and is still struck by their mint today. Today it is composed mainly of steel but for a number of earlier years up until 1968 they had silver in them. 1968 saw the use of the precious metal in some examples and nickel in others.
