The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has existed since that 1920s and have issued 5 series of currency. They second series started production in the year 1940 and ran until 1967. Below we have a New Zealand 10 Shilling note from the 2nd series of New Zealand bills. On the front one will find Captain James Cook who was British and had a profound effect on European exploration in the Pacific Ocean including the first to travel all the way around New Zealand. The obverse also includes the coat of Arms of NZ which has an interested mix of English and Native influence. The back of the bill includes an impression of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. This act officially made New Zealand a country, gave the British power over it but also recognized the native Maori people including their rights to land. The back of this New Zealand 10 Shilling Note also includes the bird known as a Kiwi which is indigenous to New Zealand, does not fly and is approximately the same size a chicken. Our 10 Shilling bill has been well used and perhaps would grade 4 or good. In any case it is a bill that certainly isn’t commonly found.
