Hard times tokens are a collectible I have recently become interested in. Here we have an example of a 1837 Hard Times Token on its front it has a phoenix rising out of fire about which says substitute for shin plasters.
On the phoenix appears the date of NOVR 1837. So this was issued during the panic of 1837 and used as small money because government issued coinage was so scarce. The causes for this I’m aware of stem from a hot bank lending market for western lands and President Andrew Jackson’s administrations attempt to cool it by requiring real estate transactions to be settled in only gold and silver. I guess you might say it culminated on May 10, 1837 when banks in NYC made a decision not to honor commercial paper in full for specie (which was gold and silver). This time period started from in the mid to late 1830s and extended into the early 1840s. It was a difficult period economically in American history and is known as the hard times.
Now have a look at the reverse side:
It has the date of May Tenth 1837 which was the day that NY banks would longer allow commercial paper to be redeemed for gold and silver.
Here we’ll have a look at a 1917 Washington 7 Cents US Stamp #507. It features first US President who warned at the end of his second term about the dangers of partisan politics. The centering is not perfect for sure, after examination it appears to be fine. The production of this stamp began in March of 1917. This stamp is used and has a light cancellation mark.

Now let us look at the reverse side of this 1943 New Zealand 1 Florin which displays a bird indigenous to NZ and is known as the Kiwi. Also the country and denomination appear here. This design was done by George Kruger-Gray.
This coin has seen very little in the way of circulation.

Here we’ll look at a 1927 10 Cents James Monroe #642 US stamp block. It is in mint hinged condition and features the 5 th President of the United States: James Monroe who was also a Founding Father. He served under George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. His presidency is known for the creation of the Monroe Doctrine which was issued to prevent European Imperialism to regaining a hold on the Americas. This stamp block is an affordable choice to add to a collection.

This post is about a 1827 Capped Bust Half Dollar Square Base. The capped bust half dollar is a beautiful old US coin is not out of reach price wise for a good number of coin collectors. This 89 percent silver coin has on its obverse displaying Lady Liberty facing left and was designed by a German immigrant by the name of John Reich. Reich was given the job of updating Robert Scot’s Draped Bust designs resulting the Capped Bust design.
The reverse side of this 1827 Capped Bust Half Dollar has the United States of America in large letters and the latin motto E Pluribus Unum (one out of many). Also there is an American eagle with union shield in its center holding an olive branch and arrows in it’s talons.

Here in this posting we will have discuss the topic of a 1917 Franklin 12 Cents US Stamp. See it in the picture below.
The subject here is used and this stamp’s centering is decent perhaps fine-very fine. Benjamin Franklin has been featured many many times on stamps when looking back at US postal history. He should be as he was Post Master General with the Continental Congress as well as for the previous British Government. Franklin contributed greatly to progressing the Post Office in the United States including the accounting aspects as well as significantly adding to routes and service.

In this post we have a 1941 Netherlands Indies 1/4 Quarter Gulden. The Netherlands Indies was a Dutch colony and today is Indonesia. On the front side of this coin we see a P designating the mint which was Philadelphia. This was because while WWII was going and the Netherlands became occupied by Germany the US stepped into produce coins for the Netherlands Indies.
This 1941 Netherlands Indie 1/4 Quarter Gulden is made of 72 percent silver and has seen very little in the way of circulation. My opinion of the grade is almost uncirculated.
See the reverse below with sun inspired design:

This entry is a about a 1920 British 3 Pence Coin. On its front or obverse we find an image of King George V who inherited the throne when he was 44 years old. He didn’t grant his 1st cousin Tsar Nicholas II or Empress Alexandra Feodorovna asylum in Britain during the Russian Revolution. Not long after the 2 leading Romanovs were executed by the Bolsheviks. Though he couldn’t have anticipated the Romanovs being killed, the whole ordeal greatly bothered George V. Not long after he dispatched the battleship HMS Marlborough to rescue Russian Grand Duchess Xenia as well as other surviving Romanovs. This 1920 British Great Britain 3 Pence coin is made out of 50 percent silver which was a change as previous 3 Pence coins were composed of sterling silver. This 1920 three p coin had a mintage of 16,704,999 in that year.

The grade of this 1920 British 3 Pence Coin appears to be very fine. The year of this coin is the same year that Great Britain declares that its no longer at war (WWI) with Austria.
